Hallowed One’s Day Kicks off HTC’s Community Outreach

Successful Event Provides an Opportunity to Minister

Woodbridge, Va. – the boisterous sounds of children laughing, the sizzle and aroma of smoked ribs and hot dogs on the grill, and the constant stream of visitors were all evident at Holiness Tabernacle Hallowed One’s Day community outreach event, this Saturday, October 31st.

“This is our first outreach event for the community since we’ve settled into our new location,” said Pastor Pruitte, Jr., “and we want it to be big! We want to let this community know that we’re here for them and we’re here to stay.”

The morning started early with a season of prayer as volunteers gathered to prepare for the full day event. Everyone had a part to play – whether it was working with the vendors to get the games set up, organizing the registration and ticket booth or corralling the groups of kids who eagerly awaited the start of the activities.

Even a forecast of scattered showers couldn’t deter the youth – or their equally excited parents – from the prospect of test driving bumper cars, performing acrobatic feats in the moon bounces or winning stuffed animals and other fun prizes at the carnival games. It was truly a fun-filled day for the entire family!

In addition to free bags of candy, members of Holiness Tabernacle used the opportunity to interact with visitors, sharing the love of Christ through simple conversation and inviting many to come to one of the weekly services. “No matter what happens today,” remarked Brother McCown, “this is about ministry!”

Perhaps the greatest indicator that the Hallowed One’s Day event was a success was the packed pews the following Sunday morning as visitors from the previous day came in to enjoy the worship service. It was a spirit-filled day with a powerful Word – made even more special by the celebration of Christ’s work on the cross with Holy Communion.

The 2009 Holiness Tabernacle Hallowed One’s Day has set the stage for future outreach opportunities within the Woodbridge community. The bar has been set high – and the church has given no indication that it will come down any time soon.
