I Wish Someone Would Invent Something Like That . . .

As part of Black History Month, Bishop Ted Thomas Sr. asked HTC’s own Mother Pruitte to organize the program for the occasion at the fourth Saturday meeting on February 26. She stepped up to the task with great vigor and a love of teaching, and her theme was African- American inventors.

Mother Pruitte covered the more recognized inventors such as George Washington Carver, inventor of peanut and sweet potato products, and Garrett Morgan, inventor of the traffic signal and gas mask; then she covered less recognized inventors including Mark Dean, creator of IBM’s ISA(Industry Standard Architecture) system bus, and Dennis Weatherby, creator of the  lemon formula in Cascade dishwashing detergent.

Mother Pruitte then teamed up with Sister Danielle Benjamin and put on a side-splitting skit that was thoroughly enjoyed. They played a mother and daughter duo whose lives were missing many inventions created by African-Americans. It made you stop and think, “what would my life be like without some of these inventions?” Holiness Tabernacle COGIC has plenty of talent. Great job Mother Pruitte and Sister Benjamin!
