“If at first you don’t succeed try, try again!” Haven’t we all heard this phrase at some point in our lives? I literally took it to heart. In my life I have had lots of bright ideas, and more times than I could count things never went as I wanted them to go. I would find myself in tough situations, I would say, “Well it won’t hurt to try again,” and then I would try again. In the end I would only find myself in even deeper trouble.
One day after one of these failed attempts, I found myself meditating on the word from the Sunday morning’s worship service program. The voice was so clear when it came, “Why are you trying to do this on your own? You are trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Have faith and give it to me, try me!”
At the moment I felt a peace that I had never felt before, God was talking to me and was telling me exactly what I needed to hear. I had been trying to do things on my own for far too long. I admit that I had been doing things without consulting Him. I was overwhelmed and God knew this.
Are there things in your life right now that you are struggling with? Have you tried doing it on your own? Why not let it go today and simply give it to Jesus. He is guaranteed to work it out every time!
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my Yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
Matt 11:28-29
