2012 Christmas Play

In celebration of the Christmas holiday season, the members of Holiness Tabernacle Church Of God In Christ gathered together for the annual Christmas Play. Amidst sparkling holiday decorations and the icy chill of the night air, Minister Andre Powell and Asp. Missionary Danielle Powell opened the play with Christmas stories. “My favorite Christmas memory is singing Nat King Cole’s ‘Christmas Song’ with my dad,” Asp. Missionary Powell explained with a smile. Laughter filled the building as people told childhood tales about their Christmas traditions.

After singing a few holiday hymns, the Youth Department lined the stage. First the sunshine band presented the meaning of Christmas. Each child came to the microphone and told the audience about different holiday symbols. Next, it was finally time for the presentation of the Christmas Play – “A Superhero Christmas!” A mixture of the Nativity story and modern comic book stories, “A Superhero Christmas” told the story of the greatest superhero on Earth – Jesus! The purity class, dressed as famous Marvel© comic book characters, frantically searched Israel for the birthplace of Jesus. Retelling the prophecies about the King of kings, the marvel characters used comedy to relay the great birth of Christ Jesus and share the Gospel with all in attendance.

Once the play was over, Pastor and Mother Pruitte shared the gift of giving. “We have gifts for everyone here” they informed the audience. With a special visitation from Santa Claus, Pastor and Mother Pruitte delivered gifts to all the children in attendance. There was even a special presentation made to a guest family in need of some cheer. As the night came to a close, the congregation ended the night singing more hymns and passing out holiday favors.
