Tribute to a Great Woman of God

Mother Annie Louise Pruitte

Mother Annie Louise Pruitte

November 13, 1937 – January 2, 2013

Mother Annie Louise Pruitte was born in LaGrange, Tennessee to Willie and Annie Robinson. As a child, she had asthma so her mother kept her mostly inside the house. As the oldest daughter, she always felt the burden of responsibility for her younger siblings and would work after school cleaning up chicken coops to help the family. She became saved at an early age and was an example to her family.

At the age of 14 she married her husband of 60 years. Soon after they married, they migrated to the Chicago area, seeking better job opportunities. Mother Pruitte was saved a couple of years before her husband, and through her holy life and prayers, her husband came to know Christ. Together they labored in the work of the Lord. Mother Pruitte, and at the time Deacon Pruitte, were faithful members of Mt. Olive for many years. Mother Pruitte and some of the other women had the foresight to begin noonday prayer at the church, which reaped souls for the harvest.

When her husband was called to pastor, she loyally served as First Lady and in several capacities, at Mt. Victory Church Of God In Christ. She would conduct bake sales and dinners to raise money for the church. Mother Pruitte was a great prayer warrior and the Lord would use her mightily. She prayed for 17 years that the Lord would save one of her relatives and the Lord multiplied her request and saved several of her family members.

Mother Pruitte was completely devoted to her husband and family. She taught her children to reverence and fear the Lord. She trained them to work in the church and to love the people of God. She loved all her children and her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law. In truth, however, she did not believe in using the term “in-laws,” and considered them all sons and daughters. She took great pride in her grandchildren and was blessed to see some of her great-grandchildren.

Mother Pruitte touched many lives and will be missed by all those who had the pleasure to have known her.

So sorry for the Pruitte family’s loss. I truly believe she to have been a great woman in the Lord because it’s evident through her son and my VA pastor Eld. Eddie B. Pruitte.
