God Blessed Me with a Job

My name is Felicia Garrison and I have a testimony! I have to rejoice about how good God is, even in the midst of the pandemic, economic calamity and uncertainty.  God is still faithful in keeping His promises and He has promised me that my later would be greater than my first.

I have to start from the beginning of this testimony.  Early in March I applied for a position with Prince William County. The position was in homeless services but it was a different position from what I was currently working at that time as a case manager in a homeless shelter. Plus, the pay was definitely more. But then Covid-19 came and PWC had a hiring freeze. I continued to look for other positions but not as diligently because I desired and wanted to work within the county.

Around late April to early May I was placed on a 90-day performance improvement plan (PIP). Needless to say, I was upset with my supervisor. I was so angry that every night when I got off from work, I was online job searching and this went on for about 30 days into the PIP.  God was dealing with me and my attitude. Then one day it hit me. I wasn’t mad at my supervisor; I was mad at myself. After a while I found myself enjoying the plan because it was helping me to be more accountable not just to my supervisor, but to myself, and my clients. In one of my oneonone meetings with my supervisor I apologized to her for having a negative attitude about the PIP. I explained that I wasn’t mad at her but I was madder at myself. Then I thanked her because honestly, I never was a detailed oriented person and the PIP helped me in that area

Not long after that meeting with my supervisor, I got a phone call from a supervisor with Prince William County for the position that I had I applied for back in March. The supervisor said that I came highly recommended and asked if I was still interested in the position. She then went on to say that she requested to have the freeze lifted just to hire and fill the one full time position. I had two interviews, and as of July 13th I became a PWC employee with a pay increase and now I’m set as relates to my retirement plan.

Yes, indeed my later is greater than my first! Nobody but God can bless in the midst of all that is going on. I give Him all the glory. And that’s my testimony!
