Luke 1:31-33
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
I have been writing articles and blogs for several years and I am sure I have repeated some things. As I sit and draft this one, which is purposefully focusing on Christmas, I am bound to sound repetitive. However, this is such a wonderful season, I cannot help but to share this blessed time with like believers.
My home has been decorated with several trees, wreaths, lights, trains, and the like for a few weeks. Most of my help has moved out, so as I grow older, I must start decorating earlier. You may not like decorating. You may not believe in Christmas trees. You may believe that Christmas has become too commercialized. That is your decision. However, do you agree with me that Jesus, his birth, his ministry, his life, his deity, his sacrifice, his humility, his obedience, and everything he did for us should be celebrated?
A relative of mine, whom I love dearly, is adamant that Christmas is evil and the world’s way of capitalizing on people. I asked him when he celebrates the birth of our Savior, and how; he had no response. I thought to myself, how sad.
In the Scriptures selected above, an angel explains to Mary the significance of the child she was carrying. He would be named Jesus. He would be great. He would be called the Son of the Highest, and the Lord would give him the throne of King David. Just imagine the decades, generations, and centuries of the Lord’s promise unfolding right before her very eyes. This is something worth celebrating.
When I consider other religions practiced throughout the world, no one makes the claim that their god loved them so much, that he or she came in the form of human flesh to redeem mankind. It concerns me that too many Christians are debating how to celebrate Jesus’ birth and when he was born, or complaining that it is too commercialized, instead of celebrating the Savior of the world!
The fact remains that Jesus should be worshipped and adored! The fact is that Jesus sits on the throne, and one day will be crowned King of Kings and Lord of Lords! The fact of the matter is that every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of the Father. I believe we should show the world that as born-again believers, we will lead the way in celebrating Jesus: this year, and every day until he returns.
On behalf of my wife, Mother Vivian Pruitte, and the Holiness Tabernacle Family, we wish you a Merry Christmas, and prosperous 2023!
