My name is Delia Pruitte and I’ve got a testimony! I believe I was still in high school when an anointed mother spoke into my life and told me that college would be paid for. I remember feeling so excited that my expensive, but necessary higher education would be taken care of without any worries or stress on my end. Repeatedly I envisioned someone approaching me when I least expected it, grinning broadly and brandishing a check for several thousands of dollars.
I do not believe you would be surprised that it did not happen this way at all. It took me the better part of seven years to acquire my undergraduate degree. Seven years of hard work, tears, and what I like to call the “pay-as-you-go” plan. Meaning, when I couldn’t pay, I could not go. I struggled, but God was with me and helped me to rebuild my faith when the journey did not look the way I expected. He was faithful!
About four years ago, I felt the desire stirring to continue my education. As a classroom teacher, I am a lifelong learner and the desire to be in a school setting, surrounded by knowledge, literature, and ideas is something that resonates with me deeply. In my journal, I remember expressing this desire to God. But I was adamant in each of these prayers – “God, I really need You to provide and cover every expense.” I wrestled with that desire to return to school and the fear that I would have to struggle financially to make it happen.
In January 2020, I decided to take the plunge and apply for graduate school. Since the day I was accepted into my graduate program, God began pouring out for me in a way I could not have imagined.
It’s true, no one has yet approached me flourishing an enormous check (though I remain completely open to any takers). But from the day I signed up for my first class, God perfectly arranged every step of the journey. He allowed me to be placed in a specialty program that met near my job, which eliminated the long drive to campus I would have had to endure each week. By the time COVID-19 hit, I was able to participate in classes from my home without sacrificing the pace of my program. Since receiving my first tuition bill, I have not only been found eligible for two promotions on my job; I have been the recipient of multiple grants that have allowed me to freely pursue my master’s degree without the financial burden!
God has wiped my spiritual, mental, and financial debt. He has allowed me to move into a new residence in a time where many struggled to hold onto their homes, and He has met every one of my academic needs in a time where many cannot afford to pursue higher education. Every time I believe He has done enough, God does more! He keeps reminding me that He is my provider, my friend, my strength, and my ultimate source. He keeps doing it for me! And that’s my testimony!
