I’ts All For My Good
Looking at life’s ups and downs, it can be hard seeing God working it out for our good. There are times we don’t understand why we’re going through these difficulties and question, “why us?” I have found that we must be careful that we don’t become bitter or hard of heart during the trying times, but must keep our focus on God. Take note of a story of a Christian woman’s life and how God brought her through.
Lisa, at age 17, was a Christian, head cheerleader, class president, and soon to be valedictorian. Joe, the star quarterback/all-American guy, decided to take Lisa, his longtime friend, on a fun outing which eventually turns into a horrific incident of rape. Lisa’s life was changed forever, but her faith in God brought her through.
Lisa, at age 40, was married with children, and the CEO of her own company. One morning, Lisa wakes up late and begins to hurry around the house. She’s yelled at her children to get up and get dressed for school. They all jumped into her car and blazed down the road. Lisa noticed a car accident exactly at the point where she and her children would have been if they had been on time. All Lisa could say was, “thank you Lord for sparing our lives.”
Lisa today is 79 and still going strong in the Lord. The words she lives by and proclaim are from the verse Romans 8:28. Lisa is a witness to young women who have been raped or abused and she realizes that being late maybe God way of slowing her down so He can finish His work.
Therefore, no matter what happens in this economy, the world, or our lives, we have to remember that our hope and faith in Christ Jesus, is all for our good.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
