Face Time with God – November 2K13 WTLB

By Sister DeAnna Pruitte

Earlier this year God told me to focus on my ministry and my career. One thing they tell you at work all the time is, “it’s not WHAT you know, it’s WHO you know.” facetimeThat being said, face time seems to be pretty important. The more people see your face, the more they get to know and trust you. The more people see what you do, the more they know what you are capable of. Put these all together, and soon you will be soaring higher and higher.

I learned it works pretty similar in ministry as well. The more your leaders see you, the more they know they can depend on you and use you. The more you do, the better you become (kind of like “practice makes perfect”).  The more dependable you are and the better you become, you will soar higher and higher in God.

God showed me that all of this applies to your walk with Him as well. The more God hears from you, the more you hear from God; the more God sees you work, the more you will see God work. You want to go higher? Get on God’s good side! No, we don’t brown-nose Him (and we shouldn’t do this anywhere), but we can spend more time in prayer, in church, in fellowship, in Sunday School, in our Word, etc. Just like on the job, it’s not tit-for-tat. We can’t show up five days in a row and expect to be elevated the next week. It takes time to prove yourself and improve your qualities. I’ve even noticed at work that hanging around the right people puts you in the right place at the right time. It works the same way with your ministry; the more you hang around anointed people, the more you learn from them. Likewise, in your walk with God it’s same thing: hanging around godly people can encourage you to live holy.

So the next time you are about to ask God for something, ask yourself, “How much face time have I had with God?”
