I Confess … Speak It!

Romans 10:9-10

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Greetings my brothers and sisters in Christ.  I have a word that I believe God has put in my heart to share with you today.  More than ever I want to encourage you to begin confessing or speaking the Word of God over yourselves, your marriages, your families, your homes, your communities and anything God has placed you over.  There is unbelievable power in the spoken Word of God!

We have all read the Creation account as recorded in Genesis.  Have you ever considered why the Bible makes note of how God created the world?  The words written say, “…and God said, ‘Let there be…’ and it was…  And God saw that it was good…”  Have you ever wondered why the Bible records that God spoke specifically what He wanted to come forth, and it happened?  Since we know He is God, why did He have to speak anything?  I believe He did this as an example for us.

When Jesus brought Lazarus from the dead the Bible records that Jesus said, “…Lazarus come forth.”  Why did Jesus have to say anything at all?  Again, I believe this was to be an example for us.  It has been my experience that something happens when words are spoken out of our mouths.  There is power in our spoken words.

Have you considered why the court requires you to orally respond when being sworn to tell the truth?  Or why the court requires you to audibly answer questions so that your answers can be recorded?  Why does the Alcoholics Anonymous program require participants to stand before the audience and confess that they have an alcoholic dependency?  Why does the preacher require the bride and groom to say “I do” aloud?  Because there is power in the spoken word.

The Spirit allowed me to see the enemy has resigned himself to the fact that he cannot stop the Word of God.  He knows he cannot stop the people of God when we put God’s Word into action.  Therefore his only hope for success is discouraging us from using God’s Word.  The Spirit showed me that we are most apt to obey, follow and believe His Word when we speak it.

According to the Apostle Paul, the Word of God (referred to as the sword of the Spirit), is the only offensive weapon we have listed in the whole amour of God!  Paul tells us in Romans that we must confess with our mouths Jesus Christ if we are to be saved!  John wrote in his epistle, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us.  Again Paul wrote that one day every knee will bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord!

This year at Holiness Tabernacle we have begun confessing and speaking God’s Word over and into our lives.  The next time your day begins with you oversleeping, you miss your bus or train, the traffic is horrendous, or someone cuts you off on the highway and you arrive at work late, don’t speak that the day is going to be terrible. Instead, speak what the Bible says, “This is the day the Lord has made and let us rejoice and be glad in it!”

The next time you feel overwhelmed with finances, strained relationships, or the world appears to be closing in on you, don’t kick the dog or retreat to a corner. Instead, speak God’s Word over your life: My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world!

I want to encourage you to find some general scriptures that God spoke for every believer.  Start confessing these words when you wake up in the morning and throughout your day.  As your faith builds, the Holy Ghost will lead you to other scriptures that are directly applicable to you and your situation.  Paul told Timothy that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction.

Remember, you have to say it aloud.  You have to speak it!  It has to come audibly out of your mouth.  Take a moment today and read Deuteronomy 28:1-13.  Read it aloud and if it doesn’t make you want to stop what you’re doing and give Him praise, I’ll quit preaching!

Child of God be blessed – I bless you in the name of the Lord!
