High School

High School

What is the first thing you think of when you hear the words “high school?” Maybe tiredness, disappointment, or exhaustion? Being anxious, doing hard work, or drama? We’re tired, we’re exhausted, and we feel over worked. Four long hard years; I couldn’t even imagine, I’m still on year one and I feel like I’ve seen and been through everything. I’ve dealt with probably the craziest people in my school, principles I don’t agree with, and seen things that I definitely don’t agree with and that go completely against what believe in. What is it that I believe in? I believe in living holy, doing the right thing, standing up for what I know is right, and just simple things like being nice and respectful.

Leaders are spending so much time trying to prepare us for the world, but really, they need to start preparing the world for us. We’re students and young adults. Almost ready to take on the world. We still want to have lives and do fun things after school, but we also want to have good grades, be focused, graduate and be successful. We’re coming out, taking charge with the power and with the strength of a thousand. We have faith in God and through Christ that we can do all things.

High School is fun though. You get more opportunities, more freedom, and more chances – although there are also more responsibilities; you must be reliable and trustworthy. In this day in time, it’s all about money, clothes, popularity and everything in the world. I’ve also heard it changed since “back in the day.” Kids are sinning horrifically and getting away with anything and doing the opposite of the right thing. It’s hard to watch these things happen, but it’s also hard to try to change or affect the lives and hearts of so many.

But I know I’m not by myself, I know I’m not doing this alone, and I know I have the best, best friend that the popular girls can’t even compare to. So, yea there might be tiredness, anxiety, exhaustion, and a little hard work, but I know high school ain’t no match for me or my best friend and His name is Jesus.
