My Mommy is a Super Mommy!
In light of the upcoming day on which we celebrate those women who have given birth, guidance, counsel, and who have cooked, comforted, protected and advanced lives – mothers; I sat down with one of Holiness Tabernacle’s bright and talented youths to gain his perspective on his mother.
Pastor Pruitte (PP): Can you tell me your name?
Benjamin Powell (BAP): Benjamin Alexander Powell.
PP: How old are you?
BAP: (holds up 4 fingers).
PP: What is your mother’s name?
BAP: (with assistance from his maternal grandmother) Missy Danielle Powell.
PP: Do you know your father’s name?
BAP: (again, with assistance from grandma) Elder Andre Maurice Powell.
PP: What’s your favorite food your mother makes for you?
BAP: Macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes.
PP: What do you enjoy playing?
BAP: I like football, soccer, and basketball.
PP: What are some things your mother does for you?
BAP: She works, she plays with me, and she likes flowers.
PP: What are some things you would like to give your mother?
BAP: McDonalds.
PP: What’s your mother’s favorite color?
BAP: Red and purple.
It was getting late and Master Benjamin was having difficulty focusing on my questions (I was as well), so we decided to call it a wrap. As I looked at my notes later and recalled his youthful exuberance and energy, I wondered if I was as active as this young man was when I was his age. I am told that I was. I wondered how mothers can birth children, nurture them, maintain careers, love and support their husbands, and serve the Lord? They must be super mommies!
