Are You a Victim or a Victor?

By Mother Doris Cassidy

My name is Doris and I’ve got a testimony! Due to COVID-19, many people have been at home teleworking or perhaps their schedule altered as the nation fights the battle with the coronavirus.  Coping during COVID-19 has brought many challenges for some.  Last month my co-worker tested positive for coronavirus.  Sometimes in life you can take things for granted, until it knocks at your back door.  It was determined if some had been in contact with anyone that tested positive, they had to be quarantined.  The guidance was if you have not been in contact with the individual more than 15 minutes, you were fine.  In that moment, my faith was tested. I’ve learned that your mindset can determine the outcome of your situation.  The enemy thought he had me for a second.  Instead of focusing on the creator, the author and finisher of my faith, I was focused on my coworker being hospitalized with this horrible virus.  I had to ask myself one question: Are you a victim or a victor?

In these troublesome times, we must continue to keep the faith and walk in victory.  The Israelites walked as victims in the wilderness for 40 years until the unbelievers transitioned.  I challenge all believers to march in victory and to continue giving God the glory!  According to the scripture, we see 12 spies going up to scout out the land of Canaan.  Was the land “flowing with milk and honey?”  Certainly! However, it seems that only Caleb and Joshua had a good report.  The others focused on the giants in the land and stated that “Those giants are too big for us.”  Those ten were walking around defeated as victims.  Yet God is bigger than any giant. Therefore, God is bigger than the coronavirus.

Romans 8:37-39: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other in creation, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Chris Jesus our Lord.

I have faced the giant on several occasions: with my co-worker and close friends.  Last week I received a devasting phone call from my daughter that someone close to her is in ICU fighting for their life.  God is a mind regulator and healer. Because of His grace and mercy, my co-worker and friends have a praise report that they are no longer a victim of this deadly virus.  As I encourage, them, I am encouraging myself.  The nation maybe battling COVID-19, but Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith and He paid it all when He died on the cross.

I want to walk and live in victory and not walk around defeated.  The most powerful and innovative tool that God has given me to shape my reality is my mind. Our minds influence our lives and make us more than a conqueror.  I choose to focus on the positive and not COVID-19.

Philippians 4:8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are good report. If there be any virtue, and if there be a praise, think on these things.

Saints of the highest God, we must renew our minds daily and walk around in victory, confidence, peace, and hope.  Our minds must have thoughts that are true, honest, pure, and lovely.  We must continue to ask ourselves, are you a victim or a victor, and declare confidently that, with the help of the Lord, we are victorious! And that’s my testimony!
