Fathers Are…

By Elder Fred Beverly

God woke me at 5:45am and all things are well.  Today a little older, but more prepared to stand.  I have always found time to study my surrounding, work or play, from the projects to military life. Today someone is studying you. I am glad you are available to read into these words about our father’s. I thank God for bringing us this far in this life. He is good and His mercies are real.

My natural father, Mr. Charles Beverly born 1910, was a doer. He built things with his hands. The spirit of the lord led me into his worship and praise.  I am grateful unto God for this lifeI am savedsanctified, and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. I am learning to trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. I am happy in my soul right now! Without faith it is impossible to please God. Lord help me to unmask the natural man inside of me, so that Your will be done in our lives.

Fathers are a blessing to every family and church community. God created fathers and every family needs a father. There is a parable in the Word of God for our help – Luke 18:1 that tells us that men ought to pray and not faint.  I hope the young boys are praying before and while they are growing into adulthood. Men are currently being challenged by the ongoing changes in the structure of families, the changing roles of women, and society’s changing expectation of us.

Fathers are Providers in that they work to provide the necessities for families. Fathers are Protectors in that they seek to protect their families from anyone or anything that might harm or destroy them. Today we acknowledge the role of FATHERS in a time when many fathers are not present in the home with their children.  I am praying for the fathers of the incarceration system and our unsaved young men.  Many don’t understand what happens when the Word of God is not in our lives and relationships. The pressures and distraction of this world can blind of from His Word for our lives in this present world.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy nameThy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily Bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into Temptation, but deliver us from evil; For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, Forever. Amen
